Buddy Agreement

What every Migrada buddy agrees to before they can help students. Buddies are volunteers. Some also offer paid help as independent providers: that is their own business, not Migrada's. See also our terms of use.

01Who agrees with whom

This agreement is between you, the buddy, and Noah Rodman, sole trader in Vienna trading as Migrada (details in the Impressum). You accept it in the Migrada app by typing your full name and ticking the box. Migrada keeps a record of that acceptance.

02Your role

You are a volunteer buddy. You answer questions in the community, create content for students from your country and help the students who share their case with you.

You are not paid by Migrada. There are no fixed hours, no duty to take part and no promise of students or income. This is not an employment contract and not a contract for services. You can stop at any time.

03Age and your own permit

You are 18 or older. You are responsible for making sure that what you do, paid or unpaid, is allowed under your own residence permit and the law.

04What you can see

An overview of new requests without names or contact details (country, route, start, languages, age group and stage), so you can offer to help. In full, only the cases Noah gives you or a student shares with you: their answers, steps and dates. You never see documents, email addresses, the inbox or private notes. Students can stop sharing at any time.

Your access is personal. Do not share your login and keep your devices locked.

05Confidentiality and personal data

You act on Noah's instructions when you handle personal data in Migrada (Article 29 GDPR) and you keep it secret, also after you leave (data secrecy under § 6 Austrian Data Protection Act).

  • Do not copy, download, export, screenshot or forward anything you see in Migrada.
  • Do not contact a student outside Migrada using details you saw in Migrada, unless the student contacted you first or asked you to.
  • Use what you see only to help that student.
  • If something goes wrong, for example a lost phone or a message sent to the wrong person, tell Noah within 24 hours.

06How you help

You give information and organisational help from your own experience, not legal advice. Point to official sources and say so when you are not sure. You never:

  • promise a visa, a university place or any outcome;
  • represent anyone before an authority, or write or file applications for money;
  • ask anyone to put money in their account or move money for a bank statement;
  • keep passports or original documents;
  • say that Migrada recommends or guarantees a paid service.

07Students under 18

With a student under 18, messages stay on Migrada or go to a parent too, you do not meet them alone and you offer no paid help unless a parent or legal guardian agrees and pays.

09Content you create

You keep the rights to what you create. You allow Migrada, free of charge and without a time limit, to use, edit, translate and publish what you create for Migrada (answers, guides, posts, videos), also after you leave. If you ask, your name is removed from it. Only share content you are allowed to share.

10Your name and photo

Migrada shows your photo, first name and city only if you agree separately. You can withdraw that at any time in your account: your photo comes off migrada.eu within 7 days and is not used in new posts. Posts already published on social media may stay.

11Responsibility

You are responsible for your own paid help and for breaking this agreement. If someone makes a claim against Noah or Migrada because of your paid help or a breach of this agreement, you cover that claim and its costs, as far as the law allows.

Noah is liable to you only for intent and gross negligence, unless the law requires more.

12Reports and ending

Students can report a buddy to Noah. Noah may look into a report, pause your access while doing so and end it. Either of you can end this agreement at any time without giving a reason. Confidentiality and the content permission continue after the end.

13Records, changes and law

Migrada keeps the record of your acceptance (name, email, version and time) for 3 years after you leave, as proof of what was agreed. If this agreement changes, you see the new version in the app and keep your access only once you accept it. Austrian law applies.

14The written offer template

Buddies use this before any paid help. Students: ask for it before you pay anyone.
